I started my radio career in 1977 here in Charlotte and have remained in this market primarily, except for a couple of Summers in Myrtle Beach. In the Fall of 1997, Jeff Kent, Mr. Bill and me were talking about a new show that I had been researching that was Blues based but fit nicely with the Classic Rock format. In search of a name, Mr. Bill said "Smokin' Bluz," and we debuted on Christmas night 1997. The show airs on Sunday nights from 7-10 and on Christmas night, we're on from 7-midnight. We highlight acoustic Blues with our Back Porch segment at 8:40. I have had the opportunity to meet musicians, and I have a great collection of pictures, just go to www.smokinbluz.com and check out our galleries. In 2002, Smokin' Bluz won The Keeping The Blues Alive award from The National Blues Foundation for Best Commercial Radio Blues Program. I was born in Greenwood SC and my family moved to Charlotte when I was five. I graduated from Olympic High School and recieved my Third Class Operators License from the FCC in 1977. I live in Charlotte with my wife and two step-daughters.
