Eddie Van Halen scored quite an honor from the readers of Guitar World magazine. He was voted the "Greatest Guitarist of All-Time" in a tournament style readers poll.
Van Halen defeated Queen's Brian May in the finals with 62 percent of the vote. The semi-finalists were Alex Lifeson of Rush and Jimi Hendrix. The reader's poll put Eric Clapton at 28th, so take it all with a grain of salt. See the bracket here and the rankings here.
